Fishing Boat Auctin Event

Coming up this April 2nd, 2012 is the Montclair Spring Boat Auction whereby residents only are able to bid on one fishing boat.  Boats will be either abandoned or unclaimed.  Bidding will take place at the far end of the parking lot at West Beach and will be tagged by number.

The final cutoff for bidds will be Monday, April 16 before 5 p.m.  Winning bidders will be notified on or before April 23rd.  For more application details visit http://www.montclairva.com/node/2576.

Antique Boat Auction Event

Also, coming up on August 3rd - 5th, 2012 is the annual antique boat show and auction held by the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, New York.  Here you can find classic and restored cruisers, outboards, runabouts, racing boats, antique rowing crafts, Chris Craft and other well kept and preserved boats up for auction.  For more information go to:  http://www.abm.org/index.php/events/antique-boat-show-and-auction/.

Annual Flea Market And Boat Auction Festival

Once again the annual Sarasota Annual Flea Market, Boat Auction, and Seafood Festival will be held on March 31st - April 3rd, 2012, in Sarasota, Florida.  Bargain hunters can peruse dealer and private owner booths for new and used boats.  Liquidated boats will include dealer closeouts often at steeply reduced prices.  Boaters can also find fishing boats, equipment, supplies and gear at discounted pricing.  Get in on the auction either as shopper or vendor here:  http://www.flnauticalfleamarket.com/.

Finding used boats auctioned off or liquidated for cheap around the world can be done  by searching the top boat auctions and online boat sales sites.
(There's a short cut to this below).  Outside of the boats on Ebay which I have found to be a highly competitive and transparent market place  --  I  like to peruse Boat Trader, Boats.com, Oodle.com, National Liquidators (more higher end yachts than fishing boats), CrashedToys.com, Adesa.com, etc. to name a few to find motivated sellers.   There's also a lot of salvage boat auction sites of course but I look at them only for motors, parts, or equipment and that's it.  The total number of sites that you can find a super cheap used fishing boat for sale or even a bank repossessed bass boat is staggering nowadays.

One of the boat auction venues I see pop up are often are Government auction or Police auction sites that liquidate seized assets.  I've not had much luck finding boats or marine related assets for auction.  Most of these Gov't sites like just post inventory from sites like GovSales.gov which covers everything for foreclosed property to old computers and furniture.  Boats, RVs, repossessed bass boats and jetski's, etc. are few and far between.

I find that most buyers go to Ebay to find fishing boats at auction but private boat owners on that site are notorious for 'accidentally on purpose' leaving out critical issues about their vessel that should have been disclosed.  If you do find the perfect bank repossessed Triton bass boat for auction on Ebay be sure to physically inspect it or have it inspected before basing your bid on a few images and bullet points.

Once such site that aggregates used boat auctions across the web is Boat Auctions Direct.com.  Similar to how Kayak.com aggregates the cheapest flights  this site does (and improving daily) the same with boat auction sources, short sales, repossessed boats of every type.
